While practicing as a designer, Dale conceptualized this special stair as part of a larger project and engaged a local fabricator to manufacture the custom steel kit of parts. In a conversation discussing details of how it was to be made, the fabricator said they would only manufacture parts and would not take responsibility for the field measurements, coordination with other trades, or install. In Oprah’s words working on this project provided the Aha! moment for what became Polynomial. The team knew that with our design education and hands-on fabrication experience, we could bring a unique perspective and turn-key solution for custom architectural elements.
